Cynthia Reed is Cyn-Pro Graphics

I am a freelance graphic artist who has turned my talent into my business. I worked my way through Oklahoma State University/Missouri Southern State College, as a graphic artist in print shops and ad agencies. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, but pursued a career in marketing/advertising - guess the ink must have gotten into my blood from all those years working in print shops! For 16 years, I handled the marketing/advertising for May's Drug Stores/Drug Warehouse, where I was responsible for everything from ad design to media buying and TV, radio and print commercials. At Horner Foods I oversaw marketing/advertising for Price Mart and Apple Market grocery stores. When they sold to Reasor's, I was out of a job - but not out of work.

I began doing freelance graphic design assignments between job interviews. Pretty soon I was too busy for job interviews, and officially began Cyn-Pro Graphics in July, 1999.

I'm a graphic artist who loves the challenge of design work; works well under pressure; and creates printable artwork. What you see is not always what you get if a designer isn't also a strong computer graphics artist. For my client's convenience, I can use both MacIntosh and PC computers and a variety of software programs. What I create can be printed by any commercial printer.

Business Philosophy
Those years in retail business taught me the importance and value of customer service. In my own business, this translates to returning phone calls and emails promptly, keeping the client informed from the beginning to the successful conclusion of a project, and meeting deadlines consistently. Although a client may only need my services quarterly, he/she knows I will respond quickly to meet those needs.

Unique Business Goal
My goal is to achieve a unified, recognizable appearance in each client's advertising and printed materials. I understand the "brand value" of advertising consistency. I am dedicated to meeting or exceeding a client's expectations, on time, and within budget!

Questions

What is a graphic design?
While it sounds complicated, graphic design is anything that has been created, assembled and printed. It may be a corporation's logo, a tee shirt, a sales brochure, or a newspaper advertisement.

What is a graphic designer?
Once, graphic designers were talented artists who could illustrate an idea, a storyline or a product in drawings which could be 'cut and pasted' into a printable format. Today's graphic designer is a talented artist who uses computers and other highly technical tools to produce amazing images ranging from flat to three-dimensional and static to animated designs that move across computer monitors. As amazing as these machines are, they can't replace the designer's creativity, artist's eye and color sense, or marketing knowledge.

What are the advantages of using a freelance graphic designer?
The advantages are threefold: 1) money 2) viewpoint 3) timeliness.

Money - A freelance graphic designer is a contractor working from her own office, using her own equipment, providing her own benefits and taxes. You pay for results; not for training that may eventually produce results. Completing a job "within budget" doesn't necessarily mean at the top end of the budget - it may come in well under budget, if you deal with an experienced and talented freelancer; and especially one who has worked with you previously. You won't see any odd, unexplained "miscellaneous" charges that often crop up in ad agency billings.

Viewpoint - Because a freelance graphic designer has a variety of clientele, she learns to look at each client's needs from a background of satisfying many clients. She brings a fresh point of view to your requirements, and creates eye-catching designs that call attention to your message and sell your products or services.

Timeliness - No one understands the adage, "Time is money" more than the freelance contractor. Those lunch hours, coffee breaks and casual conversations that shrink your office staff's production are luxuries the freelance graphic designer foregoes to get your work done. And speaking of "done" - getting it done right the first time is especially important to anyone who understands the relationship between time and money.
